Elysee is.. one of the most fun places in London!
Must go there for a dinner on Friday/Saturday night.. very nice food (don't take the menu if you can, it is definitely too much to finish it all) and very good entertainment!
Around ten they start to put some live Greek music with dancers ecc.. really fun!
The best part though is when everyone stand up from his table, get in the middle of the dining room, and start smashing dishes on the floor! Can't describe how nice the ambience and the people are there.. everyone is just happy!
Upstairs they also have a club with Greek music and a nice shisha bar.
The restaurant serves dinner until 3am.
Only problem: the place is really loud, not recommended for somebody that wants a calm night.
So came here the other night to sample the live entertainment and the Greek Cypriot food which I was excited to try Loving Cypriots food immensely. It was pretty good comparing with the food I eat authentically in Cyprus nearly hit the spot as they had a lot of traditional dishes cooked to perfection unfortunately the only downfall was the terrible service they were understaffed massively. And The show itself I was 50-50 about half of the show was brilliant traditional Greek dancing music and the other half is tacky with a not very good belly dancer and a not very good singer singing classic trashy wedding party tunes. Pricewise for five people we ended up spending £350 but we left very very full with a lot of meat in our bellies and a couple of bottles of good wine.
This place was buzzing; absolutely full of people on the Saturday night when I visited, and after sampling their food I could see why.
there was live music entertainment downstairs with a live band, and the vibe was romantic and lively, we dined upstairs on the roof terrace which was full of life.
Greek food (served at Élysée) being a Mediterranean cuisine is comparable to the tastes of Turkish and Lebanese food... And our waiter informed us that the meat at Élysée is halal upon asking, though be sure to double check if you're interested on your visit.
I ordered the 'Lamb Souvla' which was delicious and very succulent pieces of "best end" lamb that had been slow cooked served with aromatic rice and salad. The flavour of the lamb was perfect with a bit of mint/herb purée drizzled over the pieces of tender slow cooked meat which I had with the rice and salad as well as the warm pitta bread for the table. This meal was filling and scrumptious, however you can have food like this at no frills Turkish restaurants around the green lanes area for a great deal less.
That said - for the atmosphere, location and yummy food, this makes a nice place for a romantic or birthday/group meal as there is great food with live entertainment and ambience in a good location.
